BELLEVUE SUNRISE ROTARY CLUB ANNOUNCES
SELECTION OF THE FOURTH ROTARY SCHOLAR
RS4: Katherine McCune – Class of 2027 – Spokane Learning Community
I want to express my sincere gratitude for awarding me the Rotary Scholarship at the WSU Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine. Being raised in Spokane, I have always been proud to call this community my home. The opportunity to attend Washington State University and participate in the Honors College was a great experience and your generous support has played a significant role in my attendance at WSU College of Medicine.
My time in Pullman will always hold a special place in my heart. The experiences and knowledge I gained there were invaluable, and being a resident advisor allowed me to give back to the community that had given me so much. Of course, nothing compares to the excitement and celebration of Cougar Football Saturdays, which I will always cherish.
Ever since I was a child, I have aspired to become a doctor, and thanks to your generosity, I am now one step closer to that goal. My current interests lie in emergency medicine and pediatrics, fields where I believe I can make a meaningful impact.
When I’m not studying, which isn’t as often anymore, I love taking advantage of all that Spokane has to offer. Whether it’s enjoying a cup of coffee at one of our local shops, spending time climbing, or paddleboarding on the beautiful waters, Spokane has always been a place that nurtures both my body and spirit.
Thank you once again for your kindness and support. Your investment in my education is profoundly appreciated, and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to continue pursuing my dreams.
Sincerely,
Katie McCune

Disease Prevention and Treatment is one of Rotary’s causes. This aligns well with the WSU College of Medicine. Their goal is to address challenging health care environments with a focus on rural communities, Tribal Nations, and people who have been historically marginalized. Our shared goal is to endow Rotary scholarships that will support four medical students every year, indefinitely.
